GES Denies Allegations of Secret Recruitment and Sale of Teaching Appointments.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a firm response to widespread allegations suggesting that there is a “secret” recruitment exercise within the Service, where individuals are allegedly made to pay large sums of money to secure teaching appointments.
GES has described these claims as completely false and misleading. Management clarified that no recruitment process exists in which applicants are required to pay any amount, including the reported figure of GHS 25,000, to obtain an appointment. The Service stressed that such assertions do not reflect the reality of its recruitment procedures.
In explaining the situation, GES noted that financial clearance granted for applicants recruited in 2024 was extended in October 2025. This extension allowed applicants whose clearance had earlier expired to continue with their onboarding process. As part of this process, GES officially issued new appointment letters to affected applicants at no cost. These letters were meant to replace fake and unauthorised appointment letters that had been circulated by fraudsters attempting to exploit job seekers.
GES further warned the general public, particularly prospective applicants, to be vigilant and cautious. Anyone who is approached by individuals demanding money in exchange for recruitment assistance or appointment letters is advised to report such persons immediately to the security agencies for appropriate action.
The Service reaffirmed that recruitment into GES remains transparent, open, and free of charge. Management assured the public that once the necessary financial clearance is obtained, an official announcement will be made through recognised channels to invite qualified candidates to apply.
