2026 National Service: Regional verification for posted personnel; authority outlines required documents
The National Service Authority has started regional verification for people posted for the 2026/2027 service year. All eligible candidates must complete this process on time to avoid delays.
A letter dated April 22, 2026 confirmed that 18,416 trained teachers have been posted to begin their mandatory national service starting Monday, May 4, 2026. The verification exercise runs from Wednesday, April 22, 2026 to Friday, May 15, 2026.
The Authority advises all prospective national service personnel to check their postings and go to their respective regions to complete the validation process.
Purpose of the regional verification
The regional verification is a required step for all posted personnel. It allows officials to confirm identity and eligibility before official deployment to assigned institutions. The process also helps regional offices verify academic records and other documentation to ensure only qualified graduates are enrolled.
Under the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119), every Ghanaian citizen aged 18 or above who has completed an accredited tertiary institution must do national service as part of national development.
How to check your posting
Prospective personnel should check their postings through the official Authority portal. Steps:
- Visit the official NSA website: https://gnsa.gov.gh/home
- Click on the Portal section.
- Enter your PIN code and personal details.
- Access your posting details including region and institution of service.
Personnel should print their posting letters and go to the designated regional office for verification.
Documents required for regional verification
To complete verification, personnel must present at their assigned regional office:
- Printed posting letter (confirms place of posting)
- Valid National Identification (Ghana Card) for identity verification
- Passport-sized photographs for records at the district level
- Student ID or institutional identification for additional identity verification
Officials may ask for extra documents to confirm eligibility.
Completing the exercise
The Authority emphasizes that personnel who miss the regional verification timeline may face delays in activation on the national service payroll and in starting service duties. Regional validation is the final stage before personnel begin official service in schools and other public institutions across the country.
Mandatory national obligation
The Authority reiterates that national service remains a legal requirement under Ghanaian law. Graduates from universities, colleges of education, and other accredited tertiary institutions must fulfill this obligation before pursuing certain professional opportunities in the country. Management urges all posted personnel to follow the guidelines and complete verification before the May 15, 2026 deadline.
